Language Arts Third Quarter

Sixth and Seventh grades have been amazing this quarter

in their ability to comprehend correct usage in English, and

they know how to first identify the Verb and Subject when

given any question to solve in English.

Memorizing rules in both English and Spanish has been a

benefit for all.

Sixth graders are studying adjectives and verbs this quarter.

Seventh grade is working diligently to comprehend that

they no longer may guess correct usage of verbs simply by

how the word sounds in a sentence.

We will finish Subject /Verb agreement and move on to Adverbs

and Prepositions during this period.

Spelling in both grades becomes more challenging as we

progress . A word of caution-- study the night before a test

is not enough work, instead, daily study of the new words is

vital for comprehension .

When writing answers for spelling exercises, using the

glossary and taking time to follow directions will help the

students be successful.

UPDATING LANGUAGE ARTS

LANGUAGE ARTS

Both grades 6 and 7 have studied NOUNS and their qualities thoroughly.
We know that diagramming any sentence is important to understand Person-
Number,Gender and Case.
Now the 6thgraders begin a complete study of Pronouns . Pronouns must
be memorized first.
Seventh grade have completed Pronoun studies and are presently growing in
their understanding of adjectives, including correct usage.

Both grades (6and 7), will learn many lessons working with Verbs,as they
conjugate verbs in Spanish class.

Spelling- students need to spend more time and energy actually looking up
definitions in the glossary of their textbookfor the unit exercises.
Every day should be a study time for 20 new words to be memorized.

Language Arts

Sixth and Seventh grades are starting the year in language arts
in the back of the textbook - Mechanics.
We started to build on previous years' knowledge of the kinds of sentences
and the importance of capitalization and punctuation.
We discuss written and oral communication. At the same time, we review
and add to our knowledge of grammar.
Students in sixth and seventh A classes will keep notes about activities
going on in all of their classes, so they are able to write an article for our
school newspaper.

Spelling in both classes include written exercises in each unit due every
Monday. Test day for 20 new words weekly is Grade 6 on Thursday and Wed-
nesday for Grade 7.

Both classes will need to study daily and memorize spelling words and English
rules.
